repair carpet section

I own a flat where there is an iron burn, tenant was at fault but wants new carpet, to keep the piece I thought I could cut a square from the cupboard and swap them.

Is this possible, and are there any handy tips or techniques any1 can share

It all depends....

what quality is the carpet???? - twist pile maybe, loop pile almost impossible

how skilful are you???

do you have access to a proper "heat seam iron" and heat tape???

how much free time do you have and how valuable is it to you??

All in all I suspect you may be better off getting a new carpet, after all the tennant has admitted liability so you wont be paying anyway (right?)

hmmm, so not as simple as cutting square out and square in, im glad i asked.

i am pretty handy tho

carpet is pretty basic, large room tho so would like to repair as to replace.

i dont really know what a heat seam iron is :-/

plenty of time off to do this repair and willing to spend a bit on it, any tips would be great

I`m a retailer not a fitter....

But

Can you answer my question above - what type of carpet is it?
twistpile or loop
wool, polypropylene or nylon?
backing?

once I know that I maybe able to advise you further....

In the meanwhile one of the fitters on here is bound to pop in soon
