Repair on window edging needed

Hi all,

In the picture attached is the side of my bedroom window. I’m currently decorating the room and this has been unearthed.

Any suggestions on the best way to properly fill it and get a smooth sharp 90 degree edge ??

Chop away/remove the loose flaky stuff and use a cementitious filler like bostik cementone rapid concrete filler, built up to below finished level, I have used it to good effect on voids in brickwork left by removed pipework. Then fix plasterer metal angle bead and skim.

Or remove as above and use expanding foam and plasterboard.
