Repair stained varnished oak door

Hi all. I have a 2 year old double external oak door. The door had become stained from the dog pawing the door so decided to sand the damaged area with orbital sander and revarnish with a satin varnish. The result was a mess, as the door which was the original oak colour before now appears to have two different stains What is the best solution. Picture uploaded I hope. Any advice appreciated.

The stain has 'taken' to the sanded area too well ..Youll need to sand the whole door equally and re-apply varnish
