Hi,

Now that the weather is getting good again I need to work on the windows at the front of my house, there are 2 wooden windows which have been painted with a horrible fake mahogany stain/paint and the wood is showing some weather damage.

I've never repaired wood before, I was going to sand it down back to the bare wood, use some exterior quiality wood filler to fill out any imperfections in the wood, seal the wood with a good quility sealer and finally paint the windows white or stain them a natural wood colour (not decided yet)

Does this sound about right?

Also does anybody have any recommended brands of the following:

Wood Filler suitable for use on exterior windows
Wood Sealer suitable for use on exterior windows
White exterior paint suitable for windows

Its a wee bit difficult to see to bad the problem actually is, but you may get away by just replacing the glass beads with new hardwood ones.
Personally I think any sort of filler only delays the inevitable.
I like Sadolin wood stain / preservative - goes on and seems to stay on.
John :)
