repairing a compression fitting

I've had to have the bath in and out, and upon reconnection the hot is leaking from a compression fitting at the back of the bath.

Would replacing the olive resolve this, I merely connected it up with the old olive still on?

PTFE tape is a no-no apparently

if its only a slight weep try tighten abit more or wrap abit of ptfe round the olive and replace.

Or a bit of jointing compound pushed into nut all the way round and tighten up.

Are you absotutely posative its the compression fitting and not a tap conector fibre washer , assuming the tap cannectet is verticaly above the compression fitting.

Also I have have good results when re-asembling compression joints that have posibaly been over tightened by wrapping a couple of turns of PTFE string not taps around the olive to fitting side of the olive.

You may be lucky with PTFE tape if you twirle it up a bit should you not have any PTFE string.

Thanks chaps, It is only temporary before I remove the bath but I hate having leaking plumbing, best to be safe than sorry.
