Repairing a wall...

Hello all,
I’ve had a bit of a mare trying to remove some old skirting board (something I rapidly abandoned after this small area). It took a lot of plaster and wall with it. What is the best way to fill this hole before replacing the skirting?

I would use ready-mixed repair plaster. It spreads nicely with those Euro filling knives.

You only need to go down far enough for the skirting to cover the crime!
