I have this old thermostat in our 1960s bungalow. Can I replace it with a digital one - doesn't need to be programmable, just something with a proper display and an indicator of when it's triggered.

Is it live (i.e. do I need an electrician to fit it) ?

The thermostat shown will work without a neutral, so until tested there may be a limit as to what can replace it, also it is digital i.e. on/off, analogue thermostats are better, but it depends on the boiler as to if one can use analogue.

The programmable battery on/off thermostat can replace what you have. ae235.jpgI used the one shown, but had to keep the instructions tucked under the corner, as I could never remember how to set it.

I am still using one old type of thermostat Thermostats_tonemapped.jpg also have Drayton Wiser and Nest Gen 3, but the bottom four rooms in the house still use old type, the electronic types are for top two floors.

So really the question has to be why change what you have, simply to look better, or are you looking for more control?

Honeywell dt 90 will do it only needs 2 wires the live in and out . Yours will prob have 4 wires but wiring diagram in the case so make the neutral and earth safe.
You may only have two wires in existing so just use those. 5 minute job regardless
