Replace sash only?

Hi,
Am I likely to find success in trying to replace just the opening sash part to a double glazed UPVC window?
Like so many others before me, I have badly broken some of the exterior bead when removing the Double Glazed Unit to replace it. And I can't find replacement beading; the window being decades old and I have no idea who fitted it and there are no markings.
I have recently decorated the house so don't really want to replace the entire window, and I am wondering if I am likely to be successful if I attempt to simply have a new sash made up and fit it to the existing outer frame.
I clearly have some challenges, like ensuring the same thickness of frame, and possible issues around the locking mechanism, but it strikes me that the hinges should be relatively easy to transfer over. It's on a side wall so doesn't have to be an exact match with any other windows.
Has anyone any thoughts about how feasible my idea is, or should I just get on with replacing the whole thing?
Thanks.

Pic of the existing beading on the off chance that someone knows what it is and where to get it.

Maybe here.

Go down your local trade window supplier (most will deal with the public - this is my go-to http://lostockhallglass.co.uk/) with the window size and spec and get a price for a complete new window. I think you'll find it isn't worth trying to repair just the sash. I bought 4 complete fully glazed Rehau uPVC windows (3 with openers, one fixed) for £720 fairly recently.

Maybe here.

They're just current beads Foxhole, the OP's bead is 35 years old at least pushing 40
