I have a UPVC door with a split spindle. I want to replace this with a solid spindle as I find it annoying having to use the fy to open the door all the time. Is it just a straight swap over to a solid spindle?

pretty much, yes, the solid spindle will operate the catch and the bolts from the outside.
May not be a straight swop split spindles are often to allow a screw to spread them and secure handles to spindle.
soory for the delay got this sorted ok anyway.
Thank god, i've not slept for 6 months.
