I currently have a Combi boiler in my house and I would ideally like to replace this for an unvented system ( I had a megaflow in my previous property and it was great)
I currently have 14l/min flow rate and 3 bar static pressure in the property. I have 24l/min and 3 bar in the street, so will be replacing the main water pipe to the property.
My problem is that I have no airing cupboard so I do not have a ready made place for the cylinder to go.
My options so far as as follows:
- Put one in the loft where the cold water tank used to be (200l-250l). Unsightly pipe work would be needed for this. Should have probably sorted this before renovating the bathrooms.
- build a 600mm deep (up to 2.3m high) cupboard in kitchen where currently boiler is to house it. This is probably not deep enough, but can't go deeper as it will block the window.
- Have 2 short cylinders so that a cupboard can be built to house them (kitchen unit height) and extend under the Window to allow for diameter.
- Use a horizontal cylinder instead of 2 short ones
- Other
We have 3 bathrooms. One of these has an electric shower. Only 2 bathrooms would be used at once.
Any advice would be appreciated. I am in the process of getting heating engineers (hopefully not just plumbers) lined up for quotes so would like to know pros and cons. I have no garage.
Many thanks.
Dave
