Replacement Immersion Stat

It's a long time since I fitted one of these and it was one similar to this:


This is my 18" immersion stat and I need to change it for an RDT type.

I need the replacement to have the same dimensions as the Pullin, or it will not fit. It was a tight fit to get out as it was.

I have two brands in mind:
Heatrae Sadia or Backer. Will they have the same "footprint"? I can't tell from the pictures ont tinterweb.

Well, Backer could not say whether it would fit, but said he would try and dig out some tech drawings with dimensions.

HS could not say at all; he had no drawings. In fact, the technical guy passed me to sales to answer the query.....!

My IH element is Santon:

I know the wiring is dodgy... I have never been in there since we had the place.

Looking at that gunk around the N terminal, would it be best to get shot of the whole thing?

Are they not all the same size with different lengths?

They gunk could be anything.
Measure the element to see if it is sound.

Cheers, already done that, it's fine. Plus, the whole house in on an RCD incomer so it would trip if it were dodgy.

But having scraped at it with a screwdriver (gently!), I can't see where it's coming from, so thought it might be best to replace it.

Do you have a preferred brand of IH element/ stat?

Not a brand, just get the best elements - incoloy.

Don't know about the different stats.
