Hi There

Can anyone advise for a modern day replacement for the below?

Found this old system in my flat when I moved in, seems to control the storage heaters

Regards

Electric storage heaters are a rather outdated heating method and you even get a grant to convert toi gas ( in England at least ).

It all depends on whether you have a contactor to switch the power or that box does the high current switching itself.

unfortunately I have no way of converting to gas. We don't have a mains gas supply near our flats either and, being in Scotland, dont think we would get a grant for converting.

There is also a grey box in my fuse cupboard which makes a dull click/pop noise when you change the settings on this box and ive been advised by electrician friends that this is where the switching is done

Gawd, I hope your right about the contactor Tony!!!

Looks like an old Landis & Gyre time switch, which I don't think would control anything above 5amps?? Or at least shouldn't!!!

I'd get a Spark in Rosstitute to fit a E7 type controller.

Do you not have any gas in that flat in Renfrew?

No gas eh!! Well I'd also ask your Spark friend to give you some advice about the best leccy tariffs & if your system needs an upgrade.

Im in Paisley - we are lucky to get electricity ;)

Thanks guys, I had been given a replacement from a local electrical company which turned out to be an immersor switch so was hoping someone else could advise on whats best to ask for

You can take that off and replace it easily, I think without changing any wires.

Does it control both hot water and heating?

If you used that with no contactor (which makes the clunk) it would last about 5 minutes.

It controls the heating only. If someone can recommend a modern day replacement that would be appreciated

Do you have a thermostat as well?

If you do:
Honeywell ST9100C

If you don't:
Honeywell CM927
