Replacing a kitchen sink/drainer

I am about to replace a Franke sink/drainer unit with an identical one.
There seems to be a tape band around the outside edge of the old unit to prevent water getting under. What sort of tape is this please?

You can use clear silicon, Place a bead round opening and drop in sink, fix in place and then wipe off excess.
