I've a rad here that has a leaky valve when its opened and therefore is denying the rad to be used. Thought i'd be clever and change it but am getting a heavy leak from the entry pipe link. the join to the rad is fine but dont know what is wrong.

I cant use the lower lock nut that comes with the valve as I cannot remove the previous valves bolt. Thought it would be ok to use that as it screws in tight and seemingly secure. Have used tons of PTFE but still a leak. Can anyone give me any headers here??

Have tried to put pics in this thread but can't, have got two in my album showing the offending items lol.

Cheers

Dan

Its fairly unusual to have a leak at the joint you describe - are you certain its not from the new tail screwed into the radiator.......sealant and ptfe tape needed here.
If it is the joint we see, some of these valves have an 'o' ring seal, so check if this is true in your case; check for damage to the bell joint and add some quality sealant such as Jet Blue to the mating faces. PTFE tape around the threads is actually disguising where the leak is actually from - you shouldn't need it there.
