Replacing a Manual Valve with a TRV

Hi Everyone,
I am replacing some manual valves with TRV's but the 3/4" female tank connections look like they part of the Rad and not screwed in. Were radiators produced this way?
I have looked on the Web but I cannot find an adaptor for 3/4" male tank to 15mm compression.
Is an adaptor available or is there a trick to doing it or do I need to get a new rad.

Welcome to the forum newby.

Probably a 3/4 union tail, that's screwed into the rad valve tapping. With the valve removed, look into the end of the union on rad. You should see a hex-shaped hole. A rad valve tail tool will be needed to unscrew it from rad.

It is out - Hooray.
I got to BQ just in time - 3 min to spare.
It was so tight I had to hook a large adustable spanner to the Key and heave. It took some faith, I recon I was close to bending the radiator.

Yes, some plumbers have a tin of spinach before tightening rad tails.
