Replacing a PCB

When you replace a PCB second hand to a washing machine or Dishawasher is it as easy as finding the equivelent replacement and then replacing the faulty one carefully.

In theory yes, in practice some machines can be rather difficult to replace the boards on due to fixings, space, how to remove the things grrs at some of them
