i am replacing my old programmer with a Towerchron qm2
i have gravity hot water and pumped ch.
its a neat item with a neat terminal block...
my question is how do i get all the neutrals and earths into the small clamp terminal provided..at least they seem small at first sight
there will be 3 neutral and earths..

you should be able to get them all in. put 2 at 1 side, and 1 at the other side of the screw

, making sure that when the terminal screw is tightened, all conductors are well-gripped.

thanks....for some silly reason when i saw those little clamps i thought i had to loop the cable round the screw like you do in some of the old plugs...
i could put a bit of spare core on the side with one to keep the clamp level..?
will have a go next week when i can get the electricity off for a few hours...have to fit an dp isolation switch as well..
this is an old house

You need a switched spur with a 3A fuse, no more, no less.

i have a fused DP switch...its not a socket...just a plain front...with the fuse compartment showing...and i will check its 3A..thanks

the feed to the programmer at present comes direct from the 4 way fuse box in the front porch..and i think its on a 5A fuse.

its a very old house and the lead sheathing is beginning to corrode
:?

YIKES!

Looks like your "replace a programmer" project is fast turning into "rewire my house" project.....

Seriously, you need to be very careful with L/S cable....

sorry securespark i get carried away with you guys levity sometimes...
its normal grey pvc twin and earth cables...but the house is 1960...so some of the stuff doesnt have isolators...like the central heating and the oven...
both are straight from the mains box....
although the kitchen was rewired before i moved here and i suspect there may be a switched socket behind the washing machine into which the oven is connected...
i did however live in a house with lead sheathed cables which were the earths...
apologies...i will not do that again...
ps the hob is on a cooker outlet box...so that is one thing at least..
but the fuses are the old type with wire...2 @ 5amp and 2 @ 30 amp..
one of the 30 amp ones has 3 lives coming out of the connection...
someday i will get a proper survey and upgrade to mcb's...
only been here a year and mrs crow is still having blinds put up everywhere and fancying up the rooms...
god help us if we need to get some rewiring done...
dont i talk a lot..
