I need to have an existing L-shaped shower bath + screen + side panel replaced.

I have 2 likely contenders, both similarly priced.

Both baths come with a ‘hinged’ screen + plus towel rail, which meets our requirements,...but one bath at 5mm thickness seems a little more robust than the other.

However, I have a specific question about the side panel. One bath is supplied with an Acrylic panel and the other is supplied with a Styrene panel.

Are both types of side panel quite strong/rigid?,....or is one much better than the other etc?

As ever, all advice gratefully received. Many thanks in advance.

Just fitted the same bath from Soak but the screen didn't hinge, nor a towel handle on it. It was fixed, needed seal onto the bath and just seemed a little waffy in the wind. The panel fitted well and neat.

Either will do the job. Also, the customer bought the overflow with a monobloc integral tap so you filled the bath up from the overflow and thus avoided drilling for tap holes so you don't struggle to silicone seal and clean behind them.

Many thanks for your excellent and detailed reply Bonni,...very much appreciated my friend.(y)

I spoke to Soak.com on Friday and the guy confirmed they’d recently changed the spec,...the bath/screen/front-panel package in question does indeed now come with a 6mm hinged screen & towel rail i.e. this one.

It’s a task I haven’t done for many a long year but I’m actually in the process of compiling a full bathroom shopping list for my son who recently moved into his first house;..the existing bathroom (it’s grim!) needs to be ripped out completely from top to bottom, including tiles and flooring.

The only items that are salvageable are the bog and the towel-rad which are both (surprisingly!) fairly new and v.good quality,...everything else must go!...the sooner the better.

The existing L-shaped shower bath is a left-handed 1675mm,...so a replacement 1675mm or 1700mm bath will suit.

At £250 + £30 del this L-shaped 1700mm “5mm-bath/6mm hinged-screen/front-panel” package is my frontrunner;...

Any better deals out there?...or any other suggestions?
