However I'm now using a wrench to try and unscrew the hexagon piece near the top but it's just turning and not coming loose?

any help would be appreciated

I've put a line around the piece I'm trying to unscrew, however it;s just going around in circles?

is this the right piece to unscrew to remove the valve?

There's a hex area where the crease is on the tap, like just above the spout. I believe that's what's meant with the other hex, not the area you're trying with!

One's a basin tap and one's a bath tap. Basin taps have 1/2" tails, bath taps usually 3/4".
