Looking to replace the as supplied centre controller with a Hive unit. Boilers a Baxi 830 combi.

The wirings got me a bit stumped as other installations I’ve seen have a 4 wire connection, this one has 3 wire with a link between the 230v live and the common wire.

Do I just move this across to the hive backplate or do I need to replace the cable for a 4 wire? I think I’ve almost convinced myself that I’m ok just to swap the wires across.

L-A (link) - L-1 (link)
B - 3

Would that be right ?

It’s the 230 link that’s got me confused, will that go from permanent live into terminal 1 (common) on the hive harness ?

Yes, it has been wired by a cowboy, the green/yellow is not earth, and the cable needs changing.

The green/yellow to 3 and link L to 1 on the Hive will work, but that is not the way it should be done, the cable should be replaced.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I observed that as well, used a 3 core cable and the earths been used as signal wire, the boiler was fitted around a year ago and Its not the only part of the installation that I’ve raised an eyebrow over. There’s a few bits where it’s been fitted as convenient to the installer and not necessarily the best practice and parts of the old redundant system been left instead of removed.

I’ll get that cable replaced when I get a chance but you reckon the link L-1 would be fine ?
