Hi folks, a quick and easy (or at least I hope!) query re a light switch i'm trying to replace.
a while back i took the original white 2gang socket off the wall and replaced it with a dimmer switch. the dimmer switch is knackered and i'm trying to replace it with a straight 2gang switch instead of dimmer.
i've got a pair of cables for each ceiling light (red/live and black/neutral). i've also got an earth (yellow/green). each new switch has l1, l2 and com.
having looked at some of the other forum posts i think i may have wired it wrong initially which is why the dimmer wasn't working so i just wanted to check what should go where.
i have/had it wired up as - red to l1 black to com, the same then for the second switch. and the earth connected to the metal faceplate. (this was the way i read the instruction that came with the new faceplate!)
with the new plate connected as mentioned above, one switch works, the other trips back at the mcb.
Any help with this would be muchos appreciated!!
