Thanks to this excellent site I have diagnosed my problem of no hot water as the diverter valve. I have a replacement. I know I need to isolate and drain the boiler prior to fitting the new valve but what then.

What is the procedure for re-filling and re-pressurizing the boiler - I presume its not a good idea to fire up a boiler with air where there should be water.

Thanks

Hmmm. If you don't know how to fill a combi perhaps you should think twice about doing this yourself. You should at least have the manufacturer's instructions which would give you the basics. There is more to know which you wouldn't, eg drain the system, don't rely on the boiler isolation valves because they'll leak, and so on .
