I didn't say that i were a qulified electrician. The question clearly shows that i am enquiring if the same rules apply to a care home setting as would in your own property?
The rules about installation are pretty much the same. The liability you will face if you get it wrong are much greater in the care home. Could be financially crippling if you do not have liability insurance.
Before you change over like-for-like how do you know whether the existing installation is adequate or compliant?
Presumably you are fully conversant with the requirements of BS 5266, BS EN 1838, BS 5266, BS EN 50172, BS EN 60598, and BS EN 62034 in the same way you should be with BS 7671, and have public liability insurance for the installation of life safety systems?

You will need to meet with the Fire Officer and discuss the FIRE PLAN for the building.
He will soon determine that you are not competent to carry out this work.
In any multiple occupancy building, especially one such as a care home, there are very strict regulations and requirements. Its not just a matter of swopping the old for the new, as the regulations will have changed substantially.
Get someone who knows what they are doing. Its not worth trying to take a short cut.
