Hi

I'm changing the bathroom taps so I thought it a good opportunity to replace the gate valves in the airing cupboard (they don't fully close.)

I have a cold water storage tank in the loft. The mains stop cock it closed, all taps and the shower have been turned on and no more water flows out of them. I've cracked open a cold water feed gate valve to the shower and water comes gushing out. I wondered why this could be and what else I may need to do? The shower outlet is just below the gate valve.

If the gate valve is in the down-pipe from the cold tank and there is no intervening shut-off valve then you will have to drain the tank (after making sure that its fill pipe is shut off).
