A quick check, because I'm not clear on the regulations... what is notifiable etc.

Can I replace existing low voltage halogen lamps with transformers with their LED equivalents myself, or must it be signed off and notifiable?

I was going to swap out the transformers, lamps and holders for drivers, lamps and holders and fit loft caps over the top so insulation can be rolled over.

You can change without notification, LEDs will require drivers rather than transformers, make sure the lamps are rated and compatible to the drivers.

that seems like a whole lot of unnecessary expense, some manufacturers (Philips in particular) make lamps that do not require special LED drivers.

For the cost of Xno drivers, spend the extra on philips and then you literally only have to change the lamps - which of course you are allowed to do! (and put caps on if you so choose)
