replacing my old electric shower

i have an old gainsborough escort shower the control knob has split and cannot be repaired so i can not work the shower and i have to replace the whole shower unit my question is can i replace this shower unit with any type of shower unit myself or do i have to find a an experienced plumber to do it

If you know what you're doing then do it!

If you're remotely un sure get a pro in.
 
If its a fixed equipment swap, and cabling and protective devices remain un-changed then its non-notifiable

P1 still must be adhered to though, so that means things like making sure the circuit is suitable for the load connected to it, that the bonding is present, etc

(Interesting point... even replacing a shower with one of a higher rating is non-notfiable, providing the circuit is suitable for the increased load without changing cables or protective devices :) )
