Hi

We need to replace the lower panel of our UPVC door so that we can change the cat flap. We have purchased the new panel and taken the beading out, and expected to be able to simply slot the new panel into place, however on taking out the beading, we have discovered the panel is held in place with "Secure Clips" along each side. Does anybody know how we can remove these secure clips so that we can replace the panel?

Many thanks

With the beads out push the panel out as far as you can from inside and push the clips with a flat screwdriver. You may need someone outside to wiggle and pull the clips out.

So the clips come out from the outside? We can't actually see them on the outside at all, only from the inside?

Sorry, Ive had a manic week.

Are you saying your windows are internally beaded with security clips?
Some pics might help.

Normally its just a case of someone pushing on the clip with a screwdriver on one side to release the clip lock and someone pulling it out from the other side.

No, not the windows, the door. We're trying to replace the lower panel but it has what are labelled as "secure clips" holding the panel in place and we can't work out how to get the panel out to replace it with the new one

Cool

Unusual to have them on internally beaded doors/windows.

Someone needs to go outside with a flat screwdriver. Push the panel inwards as much as they can, Look in the little gap to see where the clips are and push them (in the right place) with the screwdriver to unlock the clips.
At the same time someone on the inside needs to pull and wiggle the clip out.

Obviously you need to do this with all 4 clips, They can be fiddly little bu**ers

Or the easy way (assuming your throwing the old panel away) Is drill a big hole in it and cut it to pieces with a jigsaw or other saw. You should then be able to see exactly how the clips are fitted to remove them.

Brilliant. Thanks for your help. We didn't want to do too much for fear of knackering the door!
