I have some bedside lamps which are double insulated (plastic moulded plug with plastic earth pin). Can I cut these off and replace with standard plugs leaving earth NC?
I’ve installed some cable grommets to tidy up the cables (chargers/etc). But the structure of the bedside tables (fixed to wall, with mains sockets sitting in boxed shelf below drawer) means I’d possibly compromise rigidity cutting holes big enough for the plugs to go through. So easiest would be to cut them, run the cable and attach a new plug.
I can’t think of any reason why this shouldn’t be acceptable, but I thoughts I’d double check given they are right next to my kids sleeping heads
Thanks
