Hi all. Cut a long story short. I have an aquilisa thermostatic shower. It's cost me a small fortune in spares and repairs over the years so I've had enough and want to replace with something like a triton. The trouble is, the hot and cold pipes (concealed as en suite is tiled from new) are approximately 50mm apart. It seems that all new showers (no matter what make) are around 25mm to 28mm apart. I'm guessing the best way to install the new appliance will be to use the ht and cold supply up through the bottom of the new shower when purchased but how can I get the current width down to the correct measurement? Are there any joints that can be added to the bottom of the current pipes to ensure the dimensions of the new shower can be met? Dont want to go ripping out the tiles and there is no way to the pipes from the back of the room etc (these home builders really dont help sometimes!) Apologies if I sound like an idiot but this is all new territory to me! Thanks so much for your help in advance. Chris.

Hi Chris

Don't worry. you are not an idiot. It's a constant problem trying to replace fittings without damaging the surroundings simply because the manufacturers have decided to change their design.

Go to showerdoc.com, contact them and they will give you your options. They are very helpful.

Thanks so much. Yes, it is the aqua stream shower. The pump has now failed and I don't want to keep splashing out more money on it.

Whats wrong with another aquastream ?
There is no other straight foreward replacement for an aquastream.
Also changing from an aquastream to another make you'll need to change the cable as the aquastream is powered by a 18v transformer located seperate to the shower other power showers are wired direct to 230v.

I just don't want to keep throwing money away. Seems I can get a good spec triton for £250 as opposed to paying a fortune for the aqua stream to only then have the hassle of more cartridges and pumps as the ear go by. Between my two aqua streams I've already done over £240 on three cartridges and now facing another £100 for a pump. Needless to say I would expect he pump on the other or to die soon too so that would be £450 in spares by then. Is there no fitting that will allow a new shower to be installed and I could get a sparky in to sort the electrics?

Apologies if I'm being stupid - just at the end of my tether leaking money on these things with a child on the way every penny counts!

Very rare to keeping having problems with these aquastreams they are useally very reliable.
As for a replacement there is no direct replacement due to the centre distances on the pipework out of the wall ie the aquastream being 65mm and a triton XT being only 26mm.
