Replacing Shower Unit? Leaking Unit?

Is it possible for an average DIYer to replace a shower unit? The electrics must be easy, but what about the plumbing? Is the inflow pipe in a standard place?

This is the shower that I want to replace, if you turn the tap too much, the pressure causes it starts to leak out the bottom. Maybe that's easy to fix? It's about 5 years old.

No, they aren't in a standard place. I don't recognise that one but if you can get a replacement which is the same make & model that will be easiest
