Hi

I'm changing an old double switch with a dimmer and need advice on the wiring. The switch activates two sets of lights in one room.

The old switch has 4 terminal points on the top which are wired as follows 1 - red : 2 - nothing :3 - short red wire link from terminal 1: 4 - nothing.
The bottom 4 terminals are wired as follows :1 - black:2 nothing: 3 - red; 4 - black

The new dimmer switch has two sets of terminals - L1, L2 AND C

Grateful for any advice - many thanks

The red wire that is linked to two terminals: link to to both commons (marked C).

Black in number one on the bottomof old switch, connect it to L1 on one of the switches, connect the remaining red and black wires to L1 and L2 on the other switch (doesn't matter which way round)

I'm guessing that one of the lights can be switched from another switch as well?

Thanks Adam - will try this asap

Neither of the lights can be switched from another switch

Hi

Have tried this suggestion but no luck - one of the lights came on but would not dim and the other light did not function at all.

Any thoughts please?
