So I am replacing my current electric shower and retiling my bathroom. I need to remove the tiles that are currently under the shower unit and will probably need to replace the wall between it and the inside of the hot press. At present, it is plasterboard. Is there a special type of plasterboard required for this, or should I look to use another material such as plywood?

Thanks.[/img]

A cement board such as Hardiebacker or Aquapanel.

Plasterboard will disintegrate when it gets wet, including the 'moisture resistant' variety. Plywood requires far too much preparation and even then, failure is likely.
