Has anyone ever replaced double glazing window seals?
Our windows are quite old, but I'd rather not have to do full replacements. A few of the external seals are in a poor state and I suspect it is causing damp in one of our bedrooms.

Example photo attached.

I have seen these on the web but not sure what to get:

It looks like you have E or fir tree gasket fitted, so there’s no need to look at wedge gaskets. That said, wedge gaskets are generally easier to replace because they can simply be pulled out and pushed back in. E or fir tree gaskets on the other hand clip into a groove, which usually requires you to remove the glass completely to refit them. That’s not a problem for me, but I understand you might not want to go that far.

What you could do instead is try pulling out one end of the existing E gasket. Once you get hold of it, you should be able to remove it fairly easily. However, you won’t be able to reinstall it properly without removing the glass, so it may be more practical to replace it with a wedge gasket instead.

You can find sellers on eBay offering sample packs with various gasket thicknesses for a low price. It’s worth trying a few sizes to find the best fit, then ordering the correct one by the metre.

Before doing that, once you’ve pulled a section out, measure the gap between the frame and the glass. This will give you a good indication of the thickness of wedge gasket you’ll need
