Hi all,

I have opened up my large victorian stone fireplace to install a stove.

However, I need to repoint the stonework before the stove is installed and I was hoping someone could tell me what kind of cement mix I should use?

I have repointed lots of stone work before, but this will be taking a lot of heat from the stove. A normal cement mix would probably crack?

I heard that a lime and sand mix is required. Can anyone confirm whether this is this true and what proportions should this be mixed?

Many thanks

Mike

I cannot directly help you but if you are in need of an answer soon there is a search facility on the forum, try a few things in there and look out for posts by RichardC as he seems to be very up on these things.
