The previous owner of my sisters house had the roof spayed in the attic with a white foam which covers the rafters and old black felt, she was advised the roof needed work. A roofing contractor has now taken off the old tiles but has left the old felt and battens and of course the spray foam stuck underneath. New battens have been fixed vertical up to the ridge on top of old battens a green type of felt nailed onto them and more battens put horizontal across to nail the tiles to. Could a roofing tradesman please advise if this is normal, the house was built about 1935. Thanks for any advise.

What did they price for? The roof is going to be quite deep, will be interesting to see how they finish any verges and if it is terraced it will look awful..the foam should have been removed and eave and ridge vents added to vent the attic.

Have building control been involved?
Come sale time, some mortgage companies won't lend on a property with sprayed foam.
To have a complete re-roof, but still end up with an unsaleable property would be devastating.
As above, rhe foam should have been removed!
