Hi,

I have drainage for about 20 houses running through our plot, front to back.
I want to build a double garage on our drive, and it involves moving the drains.

Who would pay for this? Me or the water board?
and is it generally expensive?

Any ideas?

why do you need to move the drains. can you not build over them?

or do they run in-line with the structure?

Our double garage runs over the main drains for the street, the builders put lintels in over the drains - It was done 20 years ago though

If the drain is a private sewer, then you pay. If the drain is a public sewer and if the local water supplier agrees to allow them to be moved ... you pay - plus their fees for CCTV surveys and checking the work afterwards
