Hi,
I’m planning to restore my wooden kitchen worktop, which has accumulated various stains over the years. For the past few years, I’ve been using Sadolin worktop oil, but the results have been underwhelming. The protective layer wears off quickly—especially in high-use areas, and each application takes an unusually long time to dry (a week or longer).
I suspect the worktop - installed around 10 years ago, may not have been properly prepared or treated, as I recall the initial coating also took a very long time to dry.
Could you please recommend effective methods for removing stains and preparing the surface correctly before re-oiling? I’d also appreciate suggestions for a durable treatment product that offers long-lasting protection and quicker drying times.
Thank you very much for your help!

I would sand down with rotary orbital sander using a coarse grit sanding disc until down to bare wood, then build up multiple layers of danish oil followed by top coats of oil based polyurethane finish.

My goto is Osmo top oil which has worked well for me, but I certainly wouldn't discount @blup suggestion as well.
