RETAINING WALL 2mX10m

Hi everyone really after some advice i have been given planning permission for my side extension and need to move the current retaining wall which is 1.5m X 10M long and is constructed with a double course brick further back about 4.5m to make the new wall 2m X 10m is it possible to dig out all soil with a digger without it all falling in i will be doing this in the summer when its dry and will have the new wall built straight away any ideas of other retaining wall methods,and do i need to apply for building regs as i am only going to get the wall sorted out this year and start the extension next year,many thanks in advance

I would contact your local BCO. I would say that the retaining wall is an integral part of the safe construction of the extension (if the wall falls down it will affect the extension).

He may need to see structural drawings to prove that the new wall will hold back what it's meant to hold back.

Best to be safe than sorry.
 
yes i think your right a wall over 1.2m high has to have a structual report the wall is drawn on the plans aswell so i think i will have to speak to them thanks
