Hi All,

After building an extension, I have to replace a short run of retaining/boundary wall between our house and next doors garden.

Our extension forms part of the retaining wall, and its outside wall is suitably waterproofed etc on the neighbours side as his garden is around 600mm higher than ours.

However, I now need to reinstate a 1.5m section that was taken out during the build.

Would this butt up/tie in to the to building structure, or should I leave some kind of expansion or material gap? Would it need waterproofing anywhere?

Cheers, Paul.

butt it up but dont tie it in. I would suggest using some expansion board between where the two meet, with a neat sealed joint.
