Hi,
I have a back garden which slopes away from the house, at most it is about 1.5m drop for every 6m away from the house. We have an existing patio which is a narrow (2.6m x 7m) platform. I'd like to make a larger patio are and have been thinking about getting a retaining wall built and then doing the backfill and patio work myself.
I want be sure the new wall doesn't have any adverse impact on the existing building. I suppose if I was doing this on flat land I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but as it isn't , I have. My question is there any rules of thumb I can follow to determine if I need some more professional opinion on whether the plans are feasible or if they need a professional opinion? I have put some pictures below to help explain.
