retaining wall

Will get some up tomorrow . Have the contractor who put the gabions in coming up at the weekend to have a look so trying to keep positive about it although feeling abject despair right now.

Seen the pics earlier! looks like the baskets have been undermined and leaned over.
Maybe mats should have been used.

I'd lay a foundation a couple of feet below the river bed. About 2m wide and 0.3m deep. Reinforced and a 1.8m x 0.3 ( higher if need be) concrete wall.
We've a 22 ton Daewoo and a 16 ton Komatsu either of which would excavate the bed in a few hours. And foundation in on the same day.
Next day would be Peri day. A few hours to erect the shuttering and 35 newton fibre mix poured in and high intensity Enar vibration.
Job Done.

Very impressive!! The trouble is SEPA don't like concrete as it's not environmentally friendly. Losing your home is secondary to the wellbeing of frogs and fish!

Just re checked. The dimensions given at the start its spot on.

Of course steel and concrete has increased in cost since then. We're still buying it @ £55 per cube though.

Just finished a 400m x 1.2m x 0.450m impact wall encircling a new stock car/hot rod Oval race track. 216 cubic meters. Completed in nine days.
We leave the competition at the starting line.

The materials will hardly pass £700 and about two days work.
OOh well, its your money.

Are you having an effing laugh!

Either you are completely clueless or a wind up merchant.

Yep, pretty close based on the original dimensions.
I modified it slighty to suit a concrete poured wall. We use the following design a lot for walls up to 2.4m.
concretewall1.png

10 cu/m @ 45 per cube = £450
3 x A393 mesh =£120
2 x A193 mesh =£40
8 x 6m x 16mm re-bar =£70
14 x 6m x 13mm re-bar = £60
Total = £740.
I'd change it slightly though for the current situation.
