How do I get the latest postings to appear first to save ploughing through all the old postings you have already read.

Do you mean on an topic which has a number of pages?
On the index there is a small number under the name of the topic with the words "Goto page " next to. If you click on the last number then it will take you to the last page.
"Goto page " also appears at the bottom of each page of the topic.

If you mean within a topic, then you can change the order with the drop down box that appears at the bottom of the each topic:
