I have installed Aurora downlights and I find the springs are not strong enough to push it completely flat agains the ceiling
I have insulation in the cavity and I used 1mm2 rigid twin and earth cable; it looks like it’s the cable that is pushing the downlight down

Would it be acceptable to replace the rigid cables with flex?

I would have imagined so? Ideally with Wago or similar?
Are they LED? Do they need hoods?

They are Led and can be covered by insulation as they are; they have lever connections so I would have to crimp some ferrules at the end of the flex

I'd be surprised if it made any difference.

Are you certain replacing the cable will help?

When you say insulation do you mean Selotex? And when pushing the fitting up have you tried feeding the cables up and out of the way instead of just pushing them straight up?
