Just fitted a Ring Doorbell Plus and replaced the existing bell push that is powered from a Friedland 770 transformer within the consumer unit and through a Friedland bell box. Has anyone swapped the transformer and bell box for Ring ones? I thought this should have been a straight forward bell push swap, but hopefully can swap the transformer and bell box now, as the bell buzzes on powering up.

It looks like from a google search that your Ring bell needs a 5A transformer whereas your Fiedland itransformer is only capable of supplying up to 0.5A so perhaps you are overloading it causing the buzzing maybe. But the potential for it overheating in the consumer unit or failing quickly would be my concern

Many transformers intended specifically to power door bells are designed to supply rated current for only short periods of time. If used to supply the rated currrent continuously then they will over heat, ( who presses a door bell for more than a minute at a time ).

The bell symbol on the 770 indicates the 770 is NOT rated for continuous 0.5 Amp supply
