Hello all

Looking for some advice from any electricians. in the picture the two wires you can see are my ring main coming upstairs into the bedroom they go down behind the skirting then under the floor boards and supply the upstairs sockets.

There used to be a surface mounted socket here and the other side of the ring was just tucked down the back and went off the other direction.

I no longer need a socket here what would be your recommendations clearly I don't want to just Bury these in plaster for a little surprise for someone in the future.

- protect the cables with a metal plate then plaster over.

- put a single socket here so it's all in a zone
the other side of the ring would need to either come in and out of the bottom or be hid behind ?

- put each side onto a FCU

any other ways to skin this so it's left simple and safe for the future ?

yes seems the easiest option in addition
as one of the wires was too short to reach down to the wago box under the floor its connected using the ideal push wire connectors which are apparently MF behind the skirting would you consider this on ok practice or should I look to make that connection somewhere more accessible?

The push fit connectors and wagos etc are only maintenance free if in the correct enclosure

You cannot have MF connectors (or any connector) on their own. All junctions must be inside an enclosure.

Box and blank plate?
You could just screw a blank plate to the wall. No box needed.

I will need to rectify the hidden orange connectors though.
sounds like sink a single back box put all connectors in there and blanking plate it off ?

there's 4 doubles in the room already but the whole house is on one ringmain so thinking behind the blanked off box is if I ever want to split the ring in the future will be easily accessible to split them
last stupid question of the night if the wires are purely just passing through the back box with orange splice connectors do I still.need to earth the back box ??
