roof slate - fibre cement or asbestos?

Hi newbi here...
can anyone tell me is this is manmade asbestos slate? its off an ex council house that was reroofed in the 80's
the slates are grey, 500mm x 250mm. there aren't any markings on them (AC or NT).

Could be anything, especially as you don't quite the magnification and there is no scale, so it's difficult to know what the fibres are. If in doubt get a sample tested
 
thanks JobAndKnock, the photos are of the edge of the tile which is about 4mm thick and the pic shows half that, ie 2mm which will give you an idea of scale.
I suspect that they are asbestos so I want to be sure before I cut them to fit some brackets. BTW I intend using an appropriate face mask and cut them using a wet angle grinder and vac whats left:)
 
Damp down by all means - it will stop asbestos fibres becoming airborne, but a domestic vacuum is NBG at all because asbestos fibres are far too small for the filters to catch - and the vacuum will just blow the fibres straight out the back. That's why removal firms have to use class H vacuums.
