Good evening,

I moved into a chalet bungalow a couple of years back and after carrying out extensive work on the downstairs I’m now venturing upstairs.
I’ve currently got 2 bedrooms upstairs with a small landing in the middle with a staircase going down into the hall. I have a fairly good sized loft to the side of the upstairs bedrooms and am looking to convert it into a en-suite for one of the bedrooms.
My only problem is the purlin currently running through where I would ideally like to fit a couple of velux windows. Any suggestions on what could be done with this? The rafters are supported further up where they sit on the stud wall between the bedroom and the loft. Could I move the purlin or would the rafters need replacing/upgrading?

thanks for any help
