Roof Tiles Problem

Hi everyone,

I had an extension added to my house last year which has a hipped roof. The builder has used half rounds on the hip slopes instead of third rounds. Does this matter from a practical point of view? It means they finish lower along their sides and make contact to some extent with the dry ridge materials beneath. Is this likely to do harm? I suppose you could argue that there is more cover from rain compared to thirds..? The main issue I can see is aesthetic as it doesn't look the best where the hip slopes meet the top ridge and he has had a harder time blending them because the halves on the hip end up a bit higher than thirds would have.

Also, on a separate note, I had the rest of my roof recovered with new tiles just under three years ago. The colour retention has been bloody awful. What should be anthracite grey is now more like a pail grey and it looks like only a matter of a few years more before the paint has come off completely. Any suggestions on how to remedy this?
