Roof vents and ridge vents?

My loft conversion has just been finished apart from a few snags but the builder hasn't put ridge vents in.
I have 6 vent tiles in the roof slope.
Do I need both
I don't want to wait till the building inspector gets here to find it's wrong

No, you do not necessarily need a ridge vent.

I am having this debate also but have yet to find authoritative guidance for where a flat roof meets the original ridge line. The building regs inspector came and he said that vented ridges were not required on my roof.
He must be right

i used vent tiles instead of ridge vents and BI was happy
