Hi,
We have a dodgily built roof, that although signed of with Building Control, does not meet regulations?!?
I have had one Roofer out who says the whole lot needs to come off and be rebuilt. Would you agree of could it be made safe and corrected ?
Part of the survey we had done says this :
2.1 The roof is constructed with rafters spanning from eaves to ridge, with a pair of cheek walls running parallel to the ridge and approximately 1.3 metres either side of the ridge front and rear.
2.2 These cheek walls are constructed of studwork and are clad in a ply facing screwed to the studs. The cheek walls are not connected or supported into the original gable wall, and only the top plate at the rear appears to be built into the new gable.
2.3 The ridge beam, a 200mm x 50mm timber, bears onto the new gable wall, but is only
supported on to a vertical timber at the original gable. This timber is about 60mm x 230mm in section and appears to be fixed to the wall, but the type and quality of fixings is not clear.
